Home & School

Pointe Claire, QC

Dear Parents,

Welcome! The SJF Home and School Association (HandS) has an exciting year planned and we would love for you to join us! HandS is a non-profit organization that supports the school in many ways. We strive to enhance the School Spirit and complete the circle between Home, Students and School.

Throughout the year, HandS organizes activities and events for the kids at SJF and treats teachers and staff on special days! Whether it be organizing picture day, fundraising for our school or hosting the SJF Fair; our kids are the focus of our mission and volunteers are the key to our success…people just like you!

Communicating with HandS is simple; all you have to do is write to

Hope to see you at the next meeting.
Bring a friend…the more the merrier!

Rebecca Cherry, HandS President

Mission Statement

The St. John Fisher Home and School Association (HandS) promotes the positive involvement and values of parents, educators, the children of the school and the community.

The St. John Fisher Home and School Association is dedicated to supporting the St. John Fisher School Success Plan. Our aim is to reflect both the social and academic realities important in our society.

The St. John Fisher Home and School Association is committed to supporting all members of the school staff.  Our goal is to help enhance the positive learning environment at St. John Fisher School.

Working together with the School, The St. John Fisher Home and School Association can make a difference.

Home & School meetings take place the third (3rd) Wednesday of each month at either 6:45 pm or 7:00 pm, alternating schools each month.

Members will be reminded of the meetings by email. Non-members are invited to attend the meetings as well. Please check SJF HandS News or the school website for meeting dates and locations.

Join the Association!

HandS membership allows you to vote on issues tabled at monthly meetings; this gives you a voice in the decisions taken. Home and School works in association with the Quebec Federation of Home and School Associations. QFHSA supports local associations with workshops, lobbies for schools, to the government concerning educational issues, presents briefs to the government and keeps us connected as a network with the QFHSA Newsletter which is delivered to you by email regularly throughout the year.

If interested in becoming a member, please fill out a volunteer/membership form and send it to school along with your payment, in an envelope addressed: HandS. The membership fee is $22 per family/year ($4 if you are a member of another H&S assoc.); $18 of this goes to support the QFHSA. The Federation supports programs such as Born To Read and many more. Membership not only supports the local Association but it’s also is a wonderful way to give back to the community.

Please keep in mind that you don’t have to be a member in order to volunteer or attend HandS meetings…although being a member is a sure way for HandS to keep in touch with you.
